Taiwanese companies, Quanta Computer, one of the largest manufacturers in the computer world, announced plans to cut 1,000 workers at a plant in Linkou, northern of the island. The plant recently reopened earlier this year to meet the growing demand for hardware manufacturers, especially tablets.
“They offered a compensation package very well if we want to voluntary early retirement,” said company spokeswoman on Wednesday (21/09/2011). Factories in Taiwan is only a small installation owned by Quanta. All of the above factory in China, with total employees to 65,000.
Factories in Taiwan was closed for several years due to the cost of labor is much cheaper in China. However, the plant was reactivated in early 2011 in anticipation of market demand. One of them, the demand for consumer production scale Playbook tablet Research In Motion (RIM).
