Hewlett Packard (HP), Thursday (09/22/2011), chose Meg Whitman as president and new CEO. Meg Whitman (55) instead of Leo Apotheker, who has worked for 11 months. HP also appoint Ray Lane becomes Executive Chairman of the President so directs a greater role in HP’s businesses.
Whitman is known as the man who raised so that eBay became the largest online auction site. He was the CEO who took eBay went public and was a pioneer in electronic commerce for small and medium enterprises. However, Whitman had no prior experience in the business. He is more involved in the consumer business.
Before eBay, who had worked in Haspres and Procter & Gamble. He has joined HP in January 2011 as a member of the board after failing to advance to the Governor of California. One of the great task is to restore investor confidence. Under the leadership of Apotheker, the value of HP shares fell 47 percent.
In his first interview as president and CEO, Whitman said he was not going to change strategy. HP will continue to be autonomous Corp. plans to acquire a software business approach. Whitman also continue its evaluation of separate computer business, HP staff.
Many analysts are still dubious Whitman to lead the transformation of HP. Whitman was chosen because there is no possibility of internal tables ready to become leaders. Whitman expected to be only temporary and not a leader for the long term.
